Infinity African Empowerment Foundation is a brain child of Zawadi Africa beneficiaries. We were born and raised in Africa in an unmentionable poverty. We witnessed and experienced social injustices, corruption, and the list goes on and on. We refuse to be victims of these circumstances because we believe that all these should not define Africa. This negative cycle has been going on for a long time until it appears to be “an African genetic disorder” that is ultimately being passed on from one generation to another. Enough is enough, the condition in Africa is not genetic, it is high time that this pessimistic cycle comes to an end; it is time for us Africans to stop complaining about our condition and take concrete actions towards improving the situation in our continent.
Having been empowered ourselves, we hold the responsibility of uplifting our communities, countries and continent with an ultimate goal of bringing to an end the existing trend and change the face of Africa. So we thought, ‘what if we could create a generation of empowered young leaders who can change the existing negative mindset? What if we could hold information forums and start development projects that will be a wake-up call for people to act?’
So we started with an educational Project in Kenya: Kipawa Cha Maarifa (Swahili for: gift of Education). Through this project we empower and assist students from underprivileged background to obtain quality education in both primary and secondary schools in Kenya. By allowing these children to focus on their academic capability also help them maneuver through the distractions caused by social injustices and poverty, we hope to give them an opportunity to tap into their full potential and pursue their dreams. We are not just aiming at facilitating their education, but we also want to inspire, empower and mold them into great leaders that Africa is badly in need of with the hope of changing the negative mindset. We believe that if these children get the inspiration, opportunity and necessary privileges, it is possible for them to have better lives in the future with the hope that this will break the poverty cycle that has overtaken generations. we hope to expand this educational project throughout Africa.
